In
the meantime already during the last decade of the 19th century, a
long wine ageing process and the choice of the right root-stock for
our soil had enabled the first production of Brunello, a wine which
brought world acclaim and attracted the attention of farmers who were
freeing themselves from share-cropping and the hard, disheartening
labour it involved: the promise of a new economy. To join small, medium
and big producers in 1967 the constituting act of the Consortium of
Brunello di Montalcino wine was drawn up marking the beginning of
a collective economic growth. |

Well
aware of the potential of Brunello but knowing full well the work
and commitment needed to accomplish it, our grandfather took an active
part in the organization, collaborating with many small farmers in
the various basic stages and sharing the successes, until he was actually
elected president of the Consortium of Vino Rosso di Montalcino in
1977, a position which he held until 1989, as well as that of vice-president
of the Consortium of Brunello di Montalcino.

The
constitution of the Consortium coincided with the first bottles
of Brunello sold by our estate which marked the beginning of our
wine business.
As the years went by our situation changed and we adapted to new
needs and our grandfather continued to tread alone the path that
was giving its first fruits, the first true returns.
In 1987 he was joined in the management of the estate by his son-in-law,
Pier-Luigi Ripaccioli, a great worker with a wealth of experience
in DOC vines who had moved to Montalcino and was already the owner
of a wine farm.
In the meantime the means and the ways of working the land were
undergoing various changes and more knowledge had been acquired:
the estate grew larger.
The medium to high quality level to which we have always aspired,
the result of a meticulous care in our work, has enabled us to gradually
increase the production without diminishing the quality.
The touching account of our grandfather, interspersed with brief
intervals of reflective thought or sips of water is nearing its
end. How many things have changed in the course of time and how
many happenings
